The Humming Machine

The hum of my gray computer is a wonderful sound.

Always working; always running.

When the morning light streams through my window,

The sound fills the room.

The colorful glow of my screensaver flickers across my body

Like the reflection off a large pool of water.

I sit in my chair and nudge the mouse as an image comes to the screen.

Five e-mail messages.

Quickly, I glance through them and only three remain interesting.

One by one, I compose responses.

Hitting send finishes the task.

As I ready for class, my computer continues humming.

Reminding me that he will be there when I get back.
